Talented footballers were out to impress in Leeds as they had a shot at landing a deal with a professional club.

Kirkstall’s Goals Soccer Centre played host yesterday to one of the regional trials in Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract competition.

The two winners of the competition will be handed 12-month deals with League One sides Swindon Town and Leyton Orient. Yesterday’s event featured around 60 hopefuls, including Leeds-based goalkeeper Tom Taylor and striker Josh Garbutt – brother of Leeds United academy product Luke Garbutt.

Six regional trials are being held, with the winners due to be announced in the New Year.

The players were whittled down from an original entry of 5,000.
