Leeds football star gets swine flu on hols
Leeds-born England soccer ace Micah Richards has been struck down with swine flu while on a sunshine break in Cyprus.
The Manchester City defender, who grew up in Chapeltown, fell ill with the bug during a holiday with friends.
The star is now confined to his hotel room near party capital Ayia Napa.
Micah, who became England's youngest ever defender at the age of 18, fell ill last weekend while staying with pals at the posh resort.
The 21-year-old flew out to Cyprus after representing England in the UEFA Under-21 Championships in Sweden.
He told a national newspaper from his hotel room: "At first I thought it was a really bad chest infection, or maybe alcohol poisoning. I felt so weak that I couldn't move or eat.
"My friends had to bring me drinks in bed.
"When I was told I had swine flu all sorts of things started going through my mind. You see on the news people dying of it."
And he warned: "No one out there is so fit and healthy they can't catch swine flu. If I can get it, anyone can."
Only 125 people in Cyprus have contracted swine flu.
The UK is now the third worst hit country, with 10,000 confirmed cases.
