Bargain hunters bagged themselves nearly new tents, sleeping bags and wellingtons after thousands of unwanted items were salvaged from Leeds Festival this week.
A 60-strong team of dedicated volunteers from the Everything is Possible project braved the weather and cleared up unwanted camping gear from Bramham Park after tired festival-goers packed up and went home on Monday.
For a small donation savvy shoppers managed to get their hands on as much bargain camping equipment as they could fit into their cars at the Re:Work base on Hunslet Trading Estate yesterday.
Community groups such as scouts and cubs also got to help themselves to left-over tents.
Project coordinator Bob McDougall said: “It’s been extremely successful this year.
“Although it is terrible that so much stuff gets left it just seems like such an incredible waste.
“But it is brilliant for us because we can rehouse it.”
Money raised from the project will help develop international projects for young people with fewer opportunities in the UK and around the globe.
Volunteers also donated all food collected during the festival to St George’s Crypt in Leeds.
