Leeds: Cordon set up after drunken man falls down stairs

A POLICE cordon was set up after reports that a 53-year-old man may have been the victim of a serious assault in Leeds.

Ambulance workers called police to Recreation Grove, in Holbeck, where the man was found with a serious head injury on Saturday at around 5.45am.

It was thought that the man may have been struck with a blunt object, although it emerged that he had been drinking heavily and later admitted that he had fallen down a flight of stairs.

He was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where it was established that his injury was not life threatening.

Police left the scene at around midday on Saturday. (Feb 16)

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We don’t believe any crime has taken place.”
