Budding superstars took centre stage and showcased their creativity to earn themselves a spot in an exciting new youth theatre company.

Youngsters, aged between eight and 21, were put through their paces during auditions for the chance to become part of The City Varieties Music Hall Youth Theatre Company.

Children showed off their creative sides in a bid to secure themselves a place in the limelight with the company yesterday.

The group, who recently performed for the Queen and Prince Philip, runs in association with Leeds-based PLaY Theatre Company and aims to provide young talent with opportunities to develop their skills.

Dick Bonham from PLaY said: “The Youth Theatre launched in January this year and has already been a great success.

“It’s been quite a year.”
