A popular restaurant in Leeds city centre turned pink for a month to raise more than £20,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

Blackhouse, on East Parade, helped reach the impressive total with a launch party and ladies’ pamper evening, which included cocktails and treatments from local beauticians.

Customers were asked to donate £1 per table and 25p from every glass of rosé wine or pink champagne sold went to the charity. Servers also wore pink ties and pin badges and all the menus were printed in pink.

The chief executive of the charity, Samia al Qadhi, said: “The money raised will help Breast Cancer Care continue to provide free support services to the 50,000 people a year who are diagnosed with breast cancer.”
