More than 100 people took part in an epic effort to read the Bible from cover to cover.
Worshippers, local residents, students and ministers from other churches all contributed to the event at Gateway church in St Marks Road, Woodhouse, over the weekend.
The reading started at about 7am on Friday and finished just before the service at about 10.30am on Sunday, when resident Veronica Dore read the final few verses of the book of Revelation.
Pastor Chris Frost said the event was held to mark the completion of the first half a refurbishment of the former St Marks church building.
He added: “It was also a spiritual statement that we believe the Bible has an important message for people today.” The second stage of refurbishment of Gateway church is expected to finish in the new year.
