A beauty queen winner who has overcome being glassed in the face is in the final of another beauty contest.

Lexi needed surgery on her nose after she was glassed in the face at New Year 2010 in a pub in Headingley, Leeds, and was left with a scar. The former pupil of Prince Henry’s Grammar School in Otley, who now works for Hatch Communications as an account executive, said: “My self confidence was really affected and I started entering pageants to improve my self-esteem. I was recently offered the chance of reconstructive surgery but have turned it down. I do have a scar and my nose is slightly deformed.”

Recalling the altercation which lead to her injury, she said: “The man swiped all the glasses across the table, cutting all down my arm and I felt like I’d been punched in the nose and blood was streaming everywhere.”

She was taken to hospital by ambulance and was told her nostril had been cut in half. She had an operation and 12 stitches to repair the damage and to remove a shard of glass.

Alexandra will compete in the grand final in March with girls from all over the country. If she wins, the international final will be held in the USA this summer, representing England.

Alexandra said: “It’s a kind of hobby for me. I’m proud of winning another title. Pageants are not only a fun and glamorous experience in which you get to represent your region, it’s also a brilliant chance to inspire others and do charity work.”

Alexandra added: “If I do happen to win my mother won’t be too pleased if I have to go to the US as we have booked a big family holiday at the same time.”
