Leeds and West Yorkshire: M62 chemical spill causes commuter delays

A chemical spill on the M62 today caused long delays for commuters.

There are currently severe delays on the M62 westbound between J29 (M1 Lofthouse) and J26 (M606 Chain Bar) following an earlier incident and associated spillage between J27 (M621 Gildersome) and J26.

The incident has also caused congestion to J30, A642 at Rothwell, and on the M621 up to J1, A6110 at Beeston.

There are further delays on the eastbound carriageway between J24 (A629 Ainley Top) and J27 due to the same incident.

Motorists are urged to find alternative routes.
