A Leeds children’s centre has thrown its support behind the Yorkshire Evening Post’s mission to recruit an army of lifesavers across the city.

Staff from Temple Newsam and Colton Children’s Centre are brushing up on their personal first aid skills by joining our special First Aid For All campaign.

Administrative staff are just some of those putting safety first and boosting their knowledge about basic first aid.

Manager Sara Jackson said: “It is really useful to have a knowledge of first aid because you can be the one to help a person who has an accident.

“You just never know when you might need to use it and it is really easy to learn.”

The YEP has teamed up with St John Ambulance to teach basic first aid to 500 people in Leeds.

And businesses are being urged to show their support and join our special roll of honour.

St John Ambulance regional manager training and community projects, David Nicklen, said: “We’re delighted to see Leeds businesses responding like this to the campaign and urge more to follow suit.

“This is not about fulfilling workplace health and safety requirements – we’re simply asking organisations to spur colleagues on to learn first aid.

“A life-threatening incident could happen at work, in the home or on the street – first aid is an essential life-saving skill wherever you are.”
