Millions of cheering fans had their cameras at the ready as the Tour de France elite passed through Yorkshire over the weekend, but did you know those snaps could win you a signed Team Sky jersey?
Tomorrow is your last chance to enter your Grand Depart photos into the Yorkshire Evening Post and Sky’s amateur photography competition to be in with a chance of claiming top prizes.
Anyone who watched the world’s greatest cycle race roll through Yorkshire on Saturday and Sunday can enter, whether they took pictures on an expensive long lens camera or took an opportunistic image on their phone.
All you need to do is send us entries for the Best Landmark Shot, Best Cycling Team Shot and Best Team Sky Picture categories on Tuesday July 8 before 5pm.
Nicola Furbisher, managing editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post, said: “Yorkshire has done itself proud in hosting such a glorious Grand Depart, so it’s no wonder people wanted to capture it with their cameras.
“It truly was a weekend to remember, so why not make it even more memorable by bagging yourself one of our wonderful prizes?”
The winner of each category will win a signed Team Sky jersey, a canvas print of their image and a Sony SLT-A58K digital SLT camera, memory card and case.
An expert panel will whittle the entries down before a shortlist for each category is put together later this week. The winners will be announced soon after.
Richard Flint, managing director of Sky in Leeds, said: “This is the last chance for any amateur photographers to send in their pictures of the Grand Depart riders as they made their way around the county over the weekend.
“There are some fantastic prizes up for grabs, so I’d encourage anyone who captured the buzz surrounding the Tour, as it came through Yorkshire, to send in their pictures.”
Sky has three offices in Leeds employing around 1,250 people. The firm supports cycling nationally from its Team Sky icons such as Chris Froome and Sir Bradley Wiggins to its mass participation traffic-free Sky Rides.
Email your entries to email@example.com tomorrow before 5pm.
