They joined other donors for a summer reception to see the garden's most recent improvements.

The councillors saw new projects introduced by June Perkin and supporters, which include a polytunnel, wildlife area, sensory garden, raised beds and a toilet for disabled people.

Councillor Wakefield (Lab, Kippax & Methley) told Kippax Today: "I always enjoy my visits to the Growing Zone.

"It is without doubt an inspirational project, that has been made possible through the hard work and dedication of June Perkin and her team of volunteers.

"The garden has seen a fantastic transformation over the last twelve months, which was great to see.

"Both myself and my ward colleagues, James Lewis and Keith Parker, have been delighted to provide funding for this project."
