A teacher in John Smeaton Community College's music department is celebrating victory as a member of Black Dyke Band.

Julie Backhouse travelled to London with the band to compete in the National Championship Finals of Great Britain.

Twenty bands qualified for the finals and played throughout the day at the Royal Albert Hall, London with Black Dyke emerging victorious.
