Supermarket developments in Middleton which will provide more than 400 new jobs are nearing completion.

The 36,000 sq ft Asda store is due to open in May. It will create up to 375 jobs. Asda will work with Leeds City Council and Jobcentres to make sure the jobs are offered to long-term unemployed people in the area.

The Aldi store will open in March and will provide up to 30 new jobs.

Councillor Kim Groves (Lab, Middleton Park) said: “Local people have been eagerly awaiting the new jobs and shopping facilities they will provide. We will work to ensure the jobs are offered to local people to help us tackle long term unemployment in the area.”
