JLS to make Leeds Arena history ASTON INTERVIEW

JLS.

POP band JLS have spoken of their honour at becoming the first act to be confirmed to play at the new Leeds Arena.

The group - who have gone on to sell 6m records after finishing as runners-up in the 2008 series of X Factor - have announced that they will perform at the £80m, 13,000-capacity venue in December 2013.

Said singer Aston Merrygold: “It’s mad. It’s crazy. We’ve said for years how has Leeds not had a massive arena. It’s such an amazing city.

“It’s going to be amazing. Being part of the history now is even better. We’re just really excited.”

Aston, 24, said JLS had always found audiences in Leeds “very receptive” on the previous occasions when they have played at Party in the Park at Temple Newsam. “It’s just one of those things where you get crowds they go crazy. When you are up there, because we don’t live anywhere near there, the reception is just double. It’s very humbling going on there. It’s so nice, we’ve very flattered.”

JLS are due to perform at Leeds Arena on Friday, December 20, 2013.

Tickets go on sale from Friday, November 16.
