Jennifer clashes with 'I want to eat alone' Darnell

It has not even been a week but already temperatures are rising in the Big Brother house after a series of clashes.

An ill-tempered evening began when Darnell and Jennifer rowed over the songwriter's penchant for dining alone before a Britain's Got Talent-style contest sparked another argument. This followed Monday night's blazing row over burnt chips.

Jennifer, the 22-year-old model and mother from Chester-le-Street, Co Durham, said songwriter Darnell had persistently avoided eating with the group since entering the house.

"We're all hungry, we all want a snack, we all want to eat our own thing, but we can't, because at the end of the day we're a group," she said.

"We have to eat the same thing."

But the 26-year-old defended himself, saying he ate alone "for reasons that you don't know about".

And it seemed a bit of flattery was enough to calm Jennifer's anger.

Darnell said: "All I know about you is that you're a mum...and you're good-looking, I know that as well!"

Looking pleased, Jennifer laughed and relented, saying: "Well, we'll draw a line here then, OK?"

The housemates spent the evening hosting a talent contest, with Dale as "Simon Cowell", Jennifer playing "Amanda Holden" and Steph the new Sharon Osbourne, while Luke acted as Master of Ceremonies.

Rachel and Mohamed's Shakespeare act was dismissed by Jennifer as "diabolical" while Sylvia and Dennis's dance was criticised by Dale, who said he "didn't see any rhythm there".

Jennifer and Stephanie then decided to dress up as the Cheeky Girls in matching skimpy outfits. Housemate Rebecca expressed her surprise at the daring costume, and Jennifer was concerned the pair "look like tarts".

The night went downhill after Mario said Jennifer did look like a "tart".

Stephanie took offence, protesting: "We're just having a laugh and you're putting this down! Shut up!"

The argument then began to spiral, with Alexandra taking Mario's side and Jennifer defending her choice of outfit.

Earlier in the day Jennifer treated housemate Dale to a spot of grooming later, plucking his "monobrow" after a conversation about physical imperfections.

Big Brother awarded Rachel and Dennis a picnic as a treat, but instead of tucking into the cookies and strawberries, the pair sat racked with indecision.

"Is there not a task there?" Dennis asked, "Is there not a thing for a task? There's no instructions!"

"I think we're just supposed to enjoy it," Rachel replied.

Big Brother confirmed they could eat the picnic, but, worrying it might be a test, they sat anxiously instead of eating.

In the diary room afterwards a sarcastic Big Brother asked them whether they had enjoyed their food before warning: "Maybe next time you won't be so quick to try and second-guess Big Brother."

Four housemates, Mario, Lisa, Luke and Stephanie, are up for the public vote this week.
