Jamie Oliver opens Leeds restaurant

London, Melbourne, Amsterdam, now here - The Naked Chef has big plans for the opening of his latest eaterie

Jamie Oliver today revealed he's on track to open the latest branch of his Fifteen restaurant in Leeds next year.

His team say they've already earmarked a site in the city centre, believed to be in the ISIS development on Granary Wharf, but they insist there's still a great deal of work to be done.

The venture follows the same ethos of his Channel Four show Jamie's Kitchen, where disadvantaged but ambitious youngsters are given the chance to realise their culinary dreams.

And Fifteen is the realisation of those aspirations, as they're given the chance to put their training into practice via the branding of one of Britain's top chefs.

But the opening pivots on support from local businesses which Jamie, 32, insists will be crucial in securing the opening.

His location to Leeds follows hot on the heels of Raymond Blanc who opened his brasserie on Sovereign Street last year.

But Jamie will be pipped to the post by Marco Pierre White who's returning to his home city this year with Frankies, a restaurant concept devised with his chum and champion jockey Frankie Dettorie.

Liam Black, leader of the Fifteen team working on the Leeds project, said: "We would love the fifth restaurant in the Fifteen family to be in Leeds.

"We have located a great site in the city centre and are excited by the fantastic food culture in Yorkshire.

"Leeds is a vibrant city but there are still many young people in need of the kind of huge boost which Fifteen provides."

The Fifteen Foundation, which now runs the restaurants in Amsterdam, London, Cornwall and Melbourne, will make further announcements in June following crucial talks next month.
