Officers from Leeds Child Safeguarding have launched an inquiry after a man came forward to report allegations that he was abused as a child at St Stephen’s Church, in Kirkstall, in the mid-1960s.

An 82-year-old man has been interviewed under caution after voluntarily attending at a Leeds police station.

Detective Constable Phil Kirby, of Leeds Child Safeguarding, said: “Our investigation is ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who has any information that could assist the investigation to contact us immediately.“

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Kirby at Elland Road on 0113 385 9595 or by email at philip.kirby@westyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
