Internet Leeds pervert jailed for teen girl’s grooming

A pervert groomed a 15-year-old girl on the internet before having sex with her on two occasions, a court heard.

Police then discovered 158 pornographic images of children when they arrested David Carr at his home in Leeds and seized his computers.

Carr, 27, of Middleton Park Court, was jailed for four-and-a-half-years after he was found guilty of two offences of sexual activity with a child, causing a child to watch a sexual act and engaging in sexual activity in the prescribe of a child.

The jury also found him guilty or 11 offences relating to the possession of indecent images of children.

Carr was sentenced yesterday after being convicted of the 15 offences after a retrial at the court last month.

Judge Rodney Jameson QC described Carr as very intelligent and had altered the lies he told during his two trials.

The judge also told Carr he believed he felt no remorse for what he had done to his teenage victim.

The trial heard Carr took advantage of the victim, who was vulnerable and had a negative body image and believed she was unattractive to boys of her own age.

Despite the victim consenting and looking older than her aged, Carr would have known she was underage from her Facebook status.

The judge said: “It is plain that when she gave evidence the full horror of what happened to her had indeed made itself apparent in her mind. Watching her, and the vacuum within her as she gave evidence, was a truly horrible experience.”

The judge added: “It was entirely clear to me the care and thought that you put into the lies that you told the jury – not once, but twice. There is no mitigation of any kind that you can be afforded.”

The court heard that Carr also had an obsession for illegal images of children being raped. He had also made Internet searches for “preteen hardcore”.
