Immigration campaigners out in force in Leeds

Protesters have gathered in Leeds city centre to voice their opposition to immigration reform.

Around 40 members of the Leeds Coalition Against the Immigration Bill campaign group attended a picket outside Leeds Central Library on Saturday.

The group opposes the new immigration bill, which could compel landlords, NHS staff and banks to check people’s immigration status among other changes.

Emily Jennings, from the Leeds No Borders group, said the bill is “racist” and is simply a “cheap election gimmick”.
