Detectives have issued a description of the intruder and appealed to the public for help in tracing him.

The victim was at home at about 9am last Friday when she heard a knock at her door.

She was in bed and got up to see who was there. When she opened the door she was confronted by the stranger.

The man barged his way into her home and after ordering her back into her bedroom, exposed himself and forced her to touch him.

The man left after about 10 minutes. The offence was reported after the woman was visited by a relative.

Today detectives hunting the woman's attacker described him as white, aged between 30 and 40, about 5ft 8 to 9in tall with neat and tidy

hair. He had no facial hair and did not wear spectacles.

He was dressed in dark or possibly navy blue jacket and trousers – perhaps a tunic style uniform.

When he arrived at the flat and left he was carrying a distinctive brown paper parcel.

Police appealing for anyone who had seen such a man say that the parcel should help anyone who had been in the area at the time to recall him.

Since her ordeal the woman has given detectives details of her experience and helped to compile a description of the wanted man.

Anyone who recognises the man or has any information about the incident is urged to contact Det Con Amy Spaven at Killingbeck CID on 0845 6060606.
