Hot in the city...Leeds sizzles SLIDESHOW
As Leeds sizzles under 29 degrees of sultry sunshine we sent our sweating snappers out to see the sights in sub-tropical Leeds. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it....
SUNBATHERS soaked up the rays across Leeds as the city sweltered in temperatures topping 29C.
The city's parks, gardens and tourist spots were jammed with folk all keen to top up their tans – before the heavens open this weekend.
The current weather spell is the hottest since July 2006, with Wednesday the hottest of the year so far at 31.8C.
But rain is predicted over the weekend – despite temperatures remaining at a humid 20C.

Thursday saw punters pack the sun terrace over at JD Wetherspoons pub Cuthbert Broderick on Millennium Square.
Manager Christine O'Hagan said: "The sun's a great advantage for us. We have been seeing more and more customers come in to enjoy it because the big beer garden is a real sun trap."
Here are what some of the other people we spoke to said:
Ann-Marie Hammond, 30, clerical assistant and Lindsey Craggs, 30, events manager:
"It's nice to be able to come out and have a chat in the sun and it saves us money because we don't have to go to the shops, which is what we'd normally do. We're also more inclined to do something outside locally."
Kirsty Rilley, 28, works in recruitment:
"I'm enjoying sitting outside because I'm normally stuck in an office. We don't have air conditioning where I work, so it's nice to get some fresh air. I'm enjoying walking around the City centre seeing people smiling."
Patrick Kelly, 59, unemployed:
"I'm enjoying the weather. I've just come back from Spain so it's like being back in Benidorm. It's nice to see everyone enjoying the sun. This weather does cheer you up."
Solictors Claire Wilson, 26, Simon Lucas, 24, James Keogh, 25, Louise Maybury, 25, Laura Walsh, 26, and Laura Oxley, 28:
"It's fantastic to be able to come out in the park and spend our lunch relaxing. We wish it was like this all the time. It definitely puts you in a better mood and makes everyone feel a lot happier."
