Race organisers say the figure is a testament to it's continuing popularity, despite several changes of course and venue over the course of its long history.

Leading the way was race winner Paul Lockwood of Wakefield Harriers, 34:18, almost a minute ahead of second placed runner Quentin Lewis, 35:00, of Baildon Runners. In third place, and much farther from home, was Aldershot and Farnham District's Fergus Meade, 35:17.

Amy Green of Keighley and Craven AC, 39:03, finished in 24th overall to take the first place honours in the women's race, also a clear minute of runner up Alison Bogie, 40:19, of Chapel Allerton Road Runners.

First Horsforth Harrier across the line was Peter May who just lost out to Queensbury's (and second claim Horsforth Harrier!) Peter Hughes in a tightly fought battle for the M50 honours.

Thanks to the continuing generosity of the running community a sizeable sum was raised to go to the race's designated charity, Rawdon-based West Yorkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, which Horsforth Harriers, as in previous years, will add to, to make a significant donation to the charity.

New race sponsors TTP had several runners in the race, and there was support from Lucozade Sports, who supplied sports drinks to thirsty runners on a warm morning, Treadmill Physiotherapists who massaged pre run and repaired post run and the Woodhouse Grove Rugby Section Barbecue fed both runners and a sizeable number of spectators alike.

Planning now starts for next summer's ABC (Apperley Bridge Canter), from the same venue, which, although a comparative youngster compared to the 10K race, is threatening to become just as big and popular as its older brother.
