City worker Rob Eaglesham was horrified when he lifted the lid on his lunchtime soup - and found a BLUE GLOVE.

The 38-year-old was looking forward to his daily Marks and Spencers soup, which on Friday was the brand’s ‘Super Bean Lentil and Barley’ flavour.

But as the NHS worker sat down to tuck into the meal at his city centre office, he was shocked to find a rubber glove floating on the top.

Bosses at M&S told the YEP they have now launched an investigation into the incident and have asked for the soup to be returned.

Rob, of Chapel Allerton, said: “I normally go to Marks and Spencer on Briggate on a Monday, to buy soup for the rest of the week.

“On Friday lunchtime I opened this particular pot and lo and behold a blue rubber glove was on top.

“I was pretty grossed out. I still haven’t touched it.”

He said his colleagues were equally horrified as he shared with them his grim discovery.

“They were incredulous,” he said.

“I’m surprised. A company of that reputation, you wouldn’t expect it.

“It was pretty stomach-churning to find something like that.”

He said he contacted M&S and they have since offered him a full refund on the soup.

But Rob said he has not yet decided if he wants to return to the store for his lunchtime meals.

“It’s certainly given me pause for thought. I may be checkout out a few other shops now,” he said.

A spokesperson for M&S told the YEP: “We’re sorry to hear about our customer’s complaint.

“Quality is extremely important to us, so we’ve asked the customer to send us the soup as soon as possible, so we can investigate further.”
