Homes and vicarage plan for ex-Wildcats ground

PLANS to replace the current Wakefield Wildcats ground with more than 100 new homes have been passed by council planning bosses.

The plans by Cala Management And Tillion Partnership are to build the homes and a four-bedroom vicarage for St Catherine's Church on the Belle Vue site.

The development also includes eight two-bedroom flats, 17 two-bedroom homes, 40 three-bedroom homes and 40 four-bedroom homes.

Plans for a 12,000-seater community stadium at Stanley, which will become the Wildcats' new home, are in progress.

Three objections had been received about the plans for Belle Vue, originally for 120 new homes, including one from Sport England on the grounds that a sports pitch would be lost.

But a report said the organisation's concerns could be overcome with a condition that replacement facilities must be provided elsewhere in the district before the development begins.
