The money is being provided by the council's inner south area committee.

Coun David Congreve (Lab, Beeston and Holbeck) said: "I am delighted that my colleagues on the area committee backed my calls to fund this much needed project on Shafton Lane.

"There are wide ranging health benefits associated with allotments.

"I am 100 per cent committed to increasing access to green spaces for people in Holbeck and that includes increasing the number of allotment plots."
