Harrogate hospital radio is up for three awards

Harrogate Hospital Radio has been nominated for three awards in the industry's Oscars.

The Hospital Broadcasting Association holds an annual ceremony to celebrate hospital radio stations across the UK.

This year's event is at the Normandy Hotel, Glasgow, on Saturday, March

27, when the Harrogate nominees will learn if they have won.

Presenter Ellie Jackson, from Pateley Bridge, has been shortlisted as best female broadcaster and her male counterpart, Steve Pexton, is in the running for the men's award. The station itself might win an award for Best Promotion.

HHR chairman Bill Caw said: "Ellie and Steve are part of a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers who give their time for the benefit and enjoyment of patients in Harrogate District Hospital. "

Ellie, who won a silver in the best newcomer category three years ago, said: "I'm thrilled to be shortlisted again. It means an awful lot to me."

Steve, from Knaresborough, is the programme controller and says: "I love being part of Harrogate Hospital Radio."
