Harehills: House is sealed off after body find
Police sealed off a house in Harehills, after a man's body was found.
Officers were called to the terrace house in Bexley Place, shortly after 1pm on Monday, November 2.
One of the tenants, a man in his 60s, had been found at the foot of bedroom stairs.
Detectives from West Yorkshire Police's Homicide and Major Inquiry Team were at the scene.
Today Senior Investigating Officer, Det Supt Paul Taylor said that so far nothing had been found to suggest there were any suspicious circumstance surrounding the man's death.
A post-mortem examination was to be held later today to establish the cause of death.
Last night a 25-year-old man who is also thought to live at the address was giving a statement to police.
It is believed that the man who died had a history of ill health and other medical problems. Police are believed to have carried out a forensic examination of the interior of the house as a precaution.
Later, two women police officers stood outside while a team of forensics examined the inside of the house..
The group was seen taking photographs in a first-floor bedroom and carrying items in and out of the three-storey house.
One neighbour said a man in his sixties lived in the house and had moved in between three and four weeks ago.
He said: "He only moved in recently. I saw him on the street but I never spoke to him. We tend to keep ourselves to ourselves."
He said the dead man lived with another man and his girlfriend.
He said: "I think the house has been empty for a few weeks."
Bexley Place, a row of terraced houses, lies just off Bayswater Road, Harehills, and overlooks St James's Hospital.
