Green gets a grant
A PROJECT to revive Aberford's Village Green is to be boosted by a grant from Leeds city councillors.
Aberford & District Parish Council will receive 1,275 to dispose of an unsightly concrete rubbish bin and install a new planter at the southern end of the green.
It forms part of a huge effort by local people to transform the green, including plans for new fencing.
Coun Rachael Procter (Conservative, Harewood) said: "I'm delighted we were able to award these funds to help revitalise the village green.
"The parish council is working hard to breathe life back into this public space and has some exciting plans to make it more attractive for the community."
And Coun Ann Castle (Conservative, Harewood) added: "It's great news that we'll be seeing the back of the concrete bin. It does nothing for the green and has become a health hazard."
