Great Britain v Canada as Leeds hosts wheelchair rugby
GOOD TACKLE: England player Ross Morrison is forced out of his wheelchair in a collision at the England v Canada wheelchair rugby game.
WHEELchair rugby was the name of the game at an international contest played in Leeds.
The match between the no-nonsense sport’s Great Britain and Canada teams was played yesterday (Monday, August 15) at the University of Leeds’s Edge complex.
It was the culmination of a six-day training camp in the city for the Canadian team.
They will be making two more visits to Leeds ahead of the 2012 Paralympic Games, which take place in London next August and September.
Andy Van Neutegem, performance director for Canadian Wheelchair Rugby, said Leeds had been chosen as a training base because of the “flexibility and accessibility” of its facilities.
Canada won the game 56-49.
