Around 20 girls and boys aged 11 to 15 explored all sorts of ideas, from the basic – using fizzy drinks bottles –- to sophisticated pre-packed rocket kits which they built and customised, testing air-powered gadgets with solid fuel-powered gizmos.
Chris Hoyle, head of physics, told Garforth Today: "I would like to think they now understand a bit more about how rocketry works but the key thing is that hopefully it has sparked an interest in the subject and they enjoyed themselves. It's nice to do something just for the sheer fun of it."
