Friends of Roundhay Park: Plan to replace roadside tributes
The Friends of Roundhay Park have proposed a sympathetic alternative to roadside shrines.

Chairman John Richards suggested at their latest meeting that a memorial garden or wall should be created in the park.
"I am very conscious of road accidents that take place near the park," he said.
"I have sympathy with those who place memorials to their loved ones on appropriate trees or lamp posts.
"The highways department tends to turn a Nelsonian eye to these memorials but they are a distraction to motorists.
"I wonder if there is scope for a garden or a wall where people could
place plaques to their loved ones?"

Ironically, the highways department has finally removed some flowers and messages stuck to a tree on Prince's Avenue – but they were quickly replaced by Kirsty Watson.
She said: "A memorial garden would be a brilliant idea."
She is grieving over her boyfriend of four years, John Walsh, 25, whose Toyota Avensis hit a tree in the early hours of Sunday, July 6.
He was a loft insulator and part-time DJ and lived with his parents, Shirley and Mike, on Wetherby Road.
"It is not clear what happened," said Kirsty, 22, a payroll clerk. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
John's is one of two memorials currently standing on opposite sides of Prince's Avenue not far from Roundhay Park.
A Leeds City Council spokeswoman said: "We haven't received this proposal from the Friends yet but would be happy to listen to it."
