A 24-hour football fundraiser will be held in memory of a Leeds man who died after a battle with cystic fibrosis.

The all-day event on Saturday, April 5, and Sunday, April 6, will be held in memory of Jonny Fallas, from Belle Isle.

Jonny died earlier this month at the age of 28, and the football fundraiser has been organised by his friends.

Michael Shears, 28, helped set up the event.

Speaking about childhood friend Jonny, he said: “He has fought the battle all of his life.

“But his body gave up and he couldn’t fight the fight any more.”

Michael added: “We’re looking for as many teams and players as we can get to take part.”

The event will be held at the @Futsal Arena, at Unit 25, Millshaw Park, Beeston and it costs £5 to take part.

A raffle will also be held, and donations of prizes are being sought. To donate, e-mail emmascheres1977@gmail.com.
