Free local events planned to celebrate older people and their accomplishments

The United Nations has designated Monday, October 1, as the annual International Day of Older Persons.

Cross Gates & District Good Neighbours Scheme will be co-hosting a series of celebration events with Swarcliffe Good Neighbours and Halton Moor & Osmondthorpe Project for Elders leading up to October 1 to remember the global importance of older people and their place and accomplishments in society.

The first free event is due to held on Tuesday, September 25 at St Gregory's Youth & Adult Centre on Stanks Gardens, in Swarcliffe from 10am until 2.30pm

Activities on offer will include Information stalls (10am until 11.30am), music & sing-a-long, sit down exercise class and a free buffet lunch followed by entertainment.

The second free event is due to be held on Thursday, September 27 at Christ Church, Chapel Street in Halton from

10am until 2.30pm.

Activities will feature information display stalls (10am until 12noon) as well as a concert by children from Corpus Christi School and a free buffet lunch followed by entertainment.
