Hospital staff in Leeds are being urged to protect themselves against flu.
Suzanne Hinchliffe, chief nurse at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, was among the first to have the flu jab in an immunisation campaign.
She said: “Flu can be a debilitating illness even in the fit and healthy but can cause significant problems in more vulnerable groups.
“For hospital staff it is our individual responsibility to protect ourselves and our families from this infection, and the best way of doing this is by having the inoculation as soon as possible.
“We have to be particularly mindful that many staff care for and come into direct contact with patients who are already in poor health. We owe it to everyone to make sure hospitals are prepared.”
