Father Christmas helps raise cash for bereavement charity

l

l

A Leeds salon was transformed into a Christmas grotto to help raise money for a charity that supports grieving children.

Father Christmas made an early visit to Yazz Number One Hair Studio, in Guiseley, to help raise money for Winston’s Wish.

The charity is close to salon manager Abbie Kent’s heart after it helped to support her two nieces following the death of her beloved sister Gemma Rooley.

Gemma died aged just 28 from stomach cancer more than three years ago and the charity helped to support her two children Neve and Erin.

Since Gemma’s death Abbie and her friend Karen Butler have raised over £25,000 for the charity to support its valuable work.

Money raised at the grotto over the weekend will go towards a tribute fund Winston’s Wish have set up in Gemma’s name which Abbie hopes can help extend the organisation’s services across the country.
