Fans devastated as firm selling Kaiser Chiefs tickets goes bust

A FIRM selling tickets to Saturday's Kaiser Chiefs concert in Leeds has gone bust leaving some fans without tickets.

One fan who paid 89 for two tickets in early December has still not received them.

Now the official receiver has been called in and says it is unlikely that fans who ordered and paid through the firm will receive either their tickets or their money back.

The firm involved is the London Ticket Shop.

Promoters of the concert, Manchester firm SJM, who are handling overall ticket sales, said: "We don't sell tickets to them or any other secondary agent so we have no idea how many they had – our guess is they possibly had none and were trading fraudulently."

The London Ticket Shop is not contactable.

Kaiser Chiefs play at Leeds United's Elland Road stadium on Saturday, May 24, and a crowd of around 35,000 is expected.

Tickets went on sale last year, and the London Ticket Shop advertised them as being available on-line.

Samantha Greenwood, from Horsforth, paid 89 for two tickets. The tickets cost 35 each, and the firm charged an additional 19 as a booking fee.

She planned to go to the event as a belated 40th birthday celebration. Her birthday is in April.

Samantha, who works for private health firm Bupa in Leeds, said: "I did it on the internet. We bought them on December 5. I was 40 in April and it was part of my 40th birthday celebrations.

"There will be young kids who have saved up for this. It is not fair. I am absolutely devastated to find out just a week before.

"My friend is 46 and she has never been to a pop concert in her life and was really looking forward to it. I don't know how many other people are affected by it."

London Ticket Shop is registered in Hungary and London.

An insolvency petition was lodged in the High Court of Justice in London on February 1 and the firm was wound up on March 19.

People who have paid for tickets through the firm but have not received them are being advised to contact the Official Receiver or email piuor@insolvency.gsi.gov.uk for more details.
