Family feud explodes on Wakefield estate
Nine people were arrested after a feud exploded into violence on an estate.
Police were called when fighting broke out in Ramsgate, Lofthouse, near Wakefield, in the early hours yesterday.
Several people suffered injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Parts of the street were sealed off by police scenes of crimes officers and forensic examinations carried out.
A fence outside one house was flattened after residents heard screaming and shouting just before 1.30am.
One resident, who didn't want to be named, said: "The police said it has been a feud between two families and matters have come to a head."
Another resident said: "The street was blocked off and there were loads of police cars. It is a quiet street and a nice area. It was shocking."
A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to reports of disorder in the Ramsgate area of Lofthouse. Three males were found to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital."
Nine people - six men and two women - were arrested. A number of those arrested were detained in hospital.
