Former Leeds United star Dominic Matteo is hoping to net business success with his latest venture into the city’s food and drink trade.

The ex-Whites captain and his friends Tony Hannan and Rob Carlton are partners in newly-opened Headingley eaterie Macy’s.

Located in a building on the corner of Otley Road and Shire Oak Road that was formerly occupied by Starbucks, it is selling New York-style deli sandwiches.

Its opening comes just over two years after Matteo and his pals set up The Rock Bar, based on Call Lane in Leeds city centre.

A VIP launch party at Macy’s on February 9 was due to be attended by Leeds Rhinos players Danny McGuire and Brent Webb as well as Mike MacDonald from Leeds Carnegie.
