‘Emaciated’ pony’s Leeds owner banned from keeping animals

A horse owner has been banned from keeping animals for 10 years after an RSPCA inspector found the “thinnest pony she had seen” in a field in Leeds.

Simon King, of Brussels Street, Leeds, pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates’ Court yesterday to causing unnecessary suffering to a piebald colt pony.

The court heard RSPCA inspector Nikki Cheetham was called to a field on Rodley Lane on April 5 where she found the collapsed colt. She described it as the thinnest pony she had seen in her five-and-a-half year career and said it was too weak to stand or lift its head.
