EASTER came early for children at a school in east Leeds yesterday.

Leeds pianist Dame Fanny Waterman visited Wykebeck Primary School in Gipton to hand out Easter eggs for all 390 pupils.

The sugary treats were donated by Waitrose in Meanwood, and the High Sheriff of West Yorkshire, Virginia LLoyd also attended the special assembly, which included musical performances by pupils.

Headteacher Jennifer Millington said: “The High Sheriff and Dame Waterman felt inspired by the happy, caring learning ethos within the school community.”
