BARKING mad thieves have dognapped a super-sized statue from outside a Leeds hotel.
The huge hound called Chewy was touring the country to promote responsible dog ownership and the importance of regular worming when he was taken on August 23.
Novartis Animal Health, the company responsible for Chewy’s Wormpatrol Roadshow, is working with police to trace the model dog.
Kingsley Baxendale from Wormpatrol.co.uk said: “We are devastated. Chewy is part of our Novartis Animal Health family and we’re anxious for his safe return.”
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to a hotel in Leeds at 8.45am on August 23 to a report of the theft of a trailer and large plastic figure.
“The matter is under investigation.”
Chewy is 3.7 metres tall, four metres long and 1.6 metres wide.
Anyone who has seen it can call non-emergency number 101 and ask for PC Liz Harrison..
