A stranger who muscled in on a photograph of a group of friends in fancy dress may have stolen one of their phones.

The man posed in a cork hat with the group at the lost property office at Leeds railway station as they had a picture taken.

One of the party later noticed their phone had gone missing.

British Transport Police now want to speak to the man about the incident.

Sergeant Keith Warner said the group had asked a member of station staff to take the picture at about 9.30pm on March 29.

He said: “While they were posing for photos one of the group left his phone, a new black iPhone 5S, on the counter and it was subsequently stolen.

“After reviewing CCTV we believe the mystery man who posed with the group and was captured in this photo, will be may be able to assist our investigation into this crime, if you recognise him or know his current whereabouts please contact us.”
