Dewsbury drug dealer jailed for 6 years
A DRUG dealer has been jailed for six years after being caught with more than £20,000 worth of drugs in his house and car.
Speed addict Simon Thompson, 35, was arrested following a raid on his house on High Street, Hanging Heaton, near Dewsbury, in May 2009.
There, police found cocaine, amphetamine, fluoro-amphetamine – nicknamed "super-speed" - and diazepam tablets worth 14,286.
On a return visit, officers found a tin containing three bags of amphetamine and fluoro-amphetamine, Leeds Crown Court heard.
Whilst on bail over charges of possession and possession with intent to supply, he was pulled over in his car at the White Bear roundabout, inbetween Dewsbury and Wakefield, on October 18 last year.
When police searched the car, they found 6,400 worth of drugs, including cocaine, amphetamine and ketamine.
The court heard how Thompson had become addicted to speed and started dealing to fund his habit and pay his debts.
The defendant, whose partner is expecting their first child, pleaded guilty to an assortment of drugs charges.
Jailing him, Judge Geoffrey Marson QC said: "Class A drugs bring misery to many people. Day in, day out these courts have to deal with those addicted to drugs who turn to crime in order to fund their habit. You've let yourself and your family down."
