It is understood the three crossed into Spain from France.
Civil Guard sources said that one climber was believed to have fallen down a sheer drop and the second to have fallen after him when he went to his aid.
It was not until the third climber woke-up the following morning that he realised his companions had disappeared.
It took rescue teams four hours to reach the bodies.
