A yellow dining experience will see customers at one Leeds restaurant enjoy a colourful taste of Le Tour this summer.

The team at Deeva restaurant, in Town Street, Farsley, is getting in the fundraising saddle as we encourage people across the region to embrace the Tour de France’s July visit to Yorkshire by going yellow.

Through our multimedia #yellowyorkshire campaign we are asking readers to send in their yellow pictures and stories of everything from Tour-themed bake-offs and daffodil-filled gardens to fun fancy dress days and yellow fundraisers. Deeva is getting behind Le Tour by decking out the Indian eatery with yellow napkins, drapes, bicycles and decorations while staff don yellow outfits during a Curry for Curie Grand Departy fundraising dinner in aid of Tour charity partner Marie Curie Cancer Care on July 1.

Zulfi Hussain, co-owner at Deeva, went to last year’s Tour finale in Paris and has set an ambitious charity goal of raising £10,000 through ticket sales, sponsorship, raffles and auctions.

He said: “It really opened my eyes to just how big this whole thing is and we thought it would be great cause to really back the Grand Depart and support a great local charity at the same time.”

Marie Curie is encouraging supporters to go yellow, cycling or French to help it raise £1m this summer. Visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/tourdefrance.

For more information on Deeva’s fundraiser, visit www.deeva.biz or call 07717 822150. Tickets are £20, which will pay for your food and a donation to Marie Curie.

WEAR YELLOW FOR LE TOUR

On the eve of the Tour de France we want everyone to Wear it Yellow.

Whether you dress up as banana or simply don a yellow headband, the YEP is encouraging businesses, residents, schools and communities to get behind Wear it Yellow Day on July 3.

A #yellowyorkshire roll of honour will see the latest organisations pledging support to our campaign’s flagship day of action published each week.

All we ask is that all those who wear yellow on July 3 donate £1 to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.

A colourful wave of support has already got behind our campaign including the LNT Group, Shine, Carat Leeds, Green Building Store, Harvard Engineering Ltd, QED UK, Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, Sulzer Pumps, Hewlett Construction, PwC, STRI, Leeds Bradford International Airport, LCF Law, Deloitte LLP, Pinsent Masons LLP, Blacks Solicitors, Straight PLC, Redmayne-Bentley LLP and JLL.

To pledge your support email reporter Jonathan Brown on jonathan.brown@ypn.co.uk.
