A rapist who carried out a street sex attack on a teenager has started an eight-year sentence.

Michael Moore, 26, was handed an extended prison sentence by a judge who described his attack on the 18-year-old woman as “compulsive, self-centred and aggressive”.

Moore set fire to his clothes shortly after raping the victim in the early hours of May 25 last year.

He then handed himself in to police but continued to deny the offence.

Moore, of Wide Lane, Morley, Leeds, was found guilty of rape and perverting justice following a trial at Leeds Crown Court in November.

The jury heard the father-of-three had met the teenager in a nightclub on the evening of the attack. The pair had kissed and left the club holding hands but Moore later forced the victim against a brick wall and carried out the attack. At the time of the offence Moore was subject to a suspended prison sentence for attacking another woman outside a pub in Morley. Moore was given a five-year prison sentence and ordered to serve an extensive licence period of three years.

Det Supt Mark Ridley, who led the investigation, said: “He is a dangerous offender who presents a serious risk to women.”
