Dancing Flower needs White Rose power...

Sadie's in a fever for Tyke votes By Paul Robinson SHE'S the talented Tyke who's currently tripping the light fantastic before millions of TV viewers each weekend.

And today 19-year-old Sadie Flower urged the whole of Yorkshire to get behind her bid for glory on BBC1's Strictly Dance Fever.

Sadie, from Methley, Leeds, and her dancing partner Joseph Hall are one of the five remaining couples on the show, hosted by Graham Norton.

Every week they all strut their stuff knowing one duo will be knocked out when the judges' scores and the votes of the public are totted up.

And with a first prize of 50,000 and a role in a West End musical up for grabs, Sadie is desperate for the support of folk in her beloved White Rose county.

Taking a break from rehearsals for this weekend's programme, she said: "I'm the only person from Yorkshire in the show, so I'm hoping everyone back home will do their bit.

"I've been dancing since I was four, so this is a real dream come true for me.

Mansion

"I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that we can make it to the final – and then anything could happen!"

The contestants, who are staying in a mansion in Buckinghamshire, have to learn a new dance for each programme. Over the last few days Sadie and co have been busy trying to master the milonga, an up-tempo version of the tango.

She said: "It's pretty nerve-racking, knowing the week's work all comes down to a few minutes out on the floor. The atmosphere's good in the house, but it is getting more tense as time goes on."

Sadie, a mobile nail technician and part-time receptionist, certainly can't complain at a lack of help from her family.

Proud parents David and Sheena, have been drumming up extra support for her with specially-made posters – and even an advertising trailer that has been on display at Castleford's Freeport retail village.

David, who runs a DIY and gardening store in Methley, said: "We're so excited at how she's doing – when it's all over she'll have the homecoming party to end all homecoming parties to look forward to."

l Although Strictly Dance Fever normally goes out on a Saturday evening, BBC1's coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest means this weekend's edition is on tomorrow at 5.35pm.
