Dad and daughter treated after fish tank fire

A FATHER and daughter were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire in Leeds caused by a fish tank.

Firefighters from Gipton and Stanks were called to a house in Farndale Terrace in Whinmoor shortly after 2am today.

An electrical fault in an aquarium started a fire and a man and his seven-years-old daughter were alerted by smoke alarms but inhaled smoke from the fire.

They were given oxygen and the house was ventilated to clear it of smoke.

A fire service spokesman said the smoke alarms had prevented serious damage and injury.
