council officials are set to decide on the future of Otley’s Grade II-listed Civic Centre.
A feasibility study about the building’s future has been formally submitted to officials at Leeds City Council.
The report, which was created by a working group on behalf of Otley Town Council, aims to show how the refurbished centre could become self-financing after it has re-opened.
The document reveals that the full annual running costs of the building, including the £30,000 a year loan repayment, would be just over £265,000.
The working group believes that income at the site would eventually rise so that within five years of the re-opening the building would be close to breaking even.
Leeds City Council, which owns the Grade II listed building, will decide what to do next.
Under the scheme Otley Town Council would take over responsibility for the building and its upkeep following the refurbishment programme.
The Civic Centre would then be sub-let to a charitable trust who would take over the running the building.
The centre closed its doors in 2010 to pave the way for an estimated £2.2million modernisation project to redevelop the building.
Councillors on Otley Town Council will debate the findings of the feasibility study at their next meeting on Monday.
